Music has always been my go-to when I need to take a break. When my headphones are on everything else falls away. The rhythm of the bass, melody, percussion, and vocals are all I need. While we all have different musical tastes, for me it's fun discussing music with others and learning about the different cultures that go with it. Here are five songs that I admire and love to listen to. #Destress #Music
If you read my previous blog, it shouldn't be a surprise that a Goo Goo Dolls song is first on my list. It is called "Name”. It was released in 1995 from “A Boy named Goo" album. It became one of Goo’s biggest hits. I recognize the opening lick of this as soon as I hear the first chords. I admire this song because though emotional, it also has an uplifting melody. Its lyrics reach so many people on a personal level. Listening to it somehow gives release. John wrote this song he said sitting on a dirty couch in one night! Just wow! #Googoodolls
This song “Love of my Life" is from one of the most powerful and influential bands, Queen. I love this song because of how beautifully written and composed it was. The vocals are haunting, and the melody is floating. Freddy Mercury wrote this song about his longtime friend Mary. I regret that I will never be able to hear this live with Freddy singing it. What a loss. #Queen
The next song is “Take on Me” by a-ha. I first heard this song on “Family Guy", I have not forgotten about it. My favorite part is the piano intro, but the lyrics along with the soaring vocals in the chorus make this song always a go-to for me. #Familyguy
The “Goo Goo Dolls“ song "Rebel Beat" debuted in April 2013." It's about spreading positivity and living life to the fullest. I love this it because of how upbeat it is. The bridge is my favorite. I have been lucky enough to have seen this live. It’s just a fun song. #Fun #Concerts
The song “Landslide” was introduced to me when I was very young. The lyrics and the melody are so honest and heartfelt. Stevie Nicks has said she wrote this when she wasn’t sure which direction her life was headed. This was penned prior to her joining Fleetwood Mac. I turn it up every time! #Stevienicks
