Daunting or Not?

Being a twenty-something year-old, the future has been a constant conversation. Whether with family or friends, it comes up often. They say your brain isn’t fully formed until you are twenty-five years old. I wonder if that’s why your car insurance finally goes down then, hmmm. If that’s the case, I still have a little over a year. That should be a good marker to not make a concrete decision at this time. At least that sounds good in theory, (insert smiley/smirk face here). It’s hard not to overthink the race to decide what you want your future to look like. #25yearold #Conversation #Future
I recently watched this video where several seniors (aged 60-80+) were interviewed. The question was, “What advice would you give to your younger self?” A common theme emerged in their answers. What was that you ask? Money, or for more clarification, it’s not important. Sure, you need money to live, but don’t kill yourself trying to get rich. The riches, they say, are in family, friends, and the journey, not in what you acquire. The moments spent making memories are worth far more than money and the things it can buy. It makes sense, but let’s be clear; it’s daunting to think about trying to make rent and all the other expenses that come up. #Seniors #Money #Daunting
Is it daunting, though? I consider myself lucky I have a supportive family. I know not everyone does. I was always told, “Just try to find a job you enjoy and give back when you can.” Don’t worry about the biggest salary; find a path that makes you happy and can pay your monthly bills. The crazy thing is that my parents were married and already owned a home by the time they were my age. I am of the opinion that life can pull you in the direction that is best for you. You just need to be open to what that might be. I just want to say never forget to find other avenues that give you joy. You need a release that may not make money but makes you happy and that's invaluable. I love concerts, playing guitar, and spending time with friends and family. #Giveback #Happy
In the end, my plan for the future is to see where life takes me. To be open to new experiences and try to not let fear hold me back. I love the word niche; I want to find mine. This is where a career can find meaningfulness. We all fail in certain ways, but what is learned from failure can lead to growth. Be productive, be a good person, and never stop learning. #Learning #Failure #Meaningfulness #Thefuturesbright
